1st Birthday Blast!

Tonight we had the privilege of hosting a birthday party for our sweet little girl and all of her wonderful little friends! We had 11 children 4 and under in our home this evening and it was an absolute blast! We had Chick-Fil-A nuggets (of course), cupcakes, cookies, M&M's, and other goodies. Sadie loved everyone singing her happy birthday, but she was not such a big fan of her cake (she doesn't like the icing on her hands, that's my girl :) )I know Sadie enjoyed all of the time with her friends, and Daustin and I enjoyed the time with their parents! Here are a few highlights from the party!

We also want to say HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY to Sadie's sweet friend Brady Clark today! Thanks for coming to see Sadie on your special day!

Sadie's First Birthday

Today Sadie officially turns 1 at 10 pm. It was a long 26 hours of labor a year ago but this past year has been worth every moment of it! Sadie has been such a blessing and I look forward to seeing what God has in store for the rest of her life. She is an amazing little girl! As of Monday evening she has been taking several steps (10 or more at a time)! She had a big day today and enjoyed every minute! Here are some highlights from the day!

This morning Grandma and Grandpa Kratzer brought Sadie doughnut holes for her birthday breakfast, she loved them!

For lunch Sadie and Mommy went with Grandma and Grandpa to Red Robin. Sadie enjoyed chicken fingers, fries, and orange slices for lunch. She even got some ice cream for her birthday!

For dinner Sadie, Daustin and I along with both sets of grandparents and one set of great grandparents gathered at Nana and Poppi's house for a party! Sadie had Spaghetti for dinner, which is her FAVORITE food! Then after the birthday song she had a cupcake and ice cream followed by presents. It was a great day!

I cant wait to see what her next year holds! Happy birthday Sadie, Mommy and Daddy love you!

Christmas 2010--Sadie's First Christmas!

It was quite the joyous first Christmas for our little girl! Sadie's grandma and grandpa Kratzer who are currently living in Alabama were able to travel to Louisville the weekend prior to Christmas and stay through the Monday after Christmas. This gave Sadie and them as well as her Uncle Dallas plenty of time to catch up on some much-needed time the week prior to Christmas. On Christmas Eve our entire family (Daustin, Sadie, Nana and Poppi, Grandma and Grandpa, and Uncle Dallas) were able to attend the Christmas Eve candle light service at Ninth and O. While Sadie didn't make it through the entire service (she is at the age of not wanting to sit still very long :) ) I heard from my family that it was an amazing time of worship. It was great to take time to be reminded of the sinners we are, praise God for sending His son to be our Sacrifice, and thanking Christ for His birth, life, death, and resurrection so that we may be saved and have a personal relationship with Him. After the Christmas Eve service, Daustin and I hosted everyone over at our place for pizza.
On Christmas day, it is always important to Daustin and I to spend out day with family, which often times we only see a few times a year because of the distance the live from us. However, we did want to start our own family traditions. So that morning Daustin, Sadie and I spent our morning together before heading over to Nana and Poppi's to spend Christmas morning with them. Sadie loved opening her gifts from them and she learned very quickly how to unwrap gifts! Thank you Nana and Poppi for you wonderful gifts! After that, we were able to join my grandfather and the rest of my family on my Dad's side for Christmas brunch and a time of opening gifts together. After Sadie's afternoon nap, Grandma and Grandpa Kratzer and Uncle Dallas joined us at our house for gift exchange. Again, Sadie was able to quickly open her gifts from them, and thank you all for your wonderful gifts! Then we all joined together again at my parents house for a Christmas dinner. This was one of the sweetest times of the day. Seeing both sets of Sadie's grandparents and her uncle joining us around one table talking together and celebrating the birth of Christ was great. It made for a glorious time of fellowship for our families! The night ended for us with Daustin sharing the story of Christ birth and the story of the three wise men who journeyed to worship Christ after his birth from the Jesus Storybook Bible. It was a great way to end the day to be reminded of what the true purpose of Christmas is which is celebrating the birth of Christ.
It was a great day. I look forward to the Christmases to come for Sadie and our other Children. I look forward to the traditions we will make as a family, to the time spent with family, to the giving of gifts. But most of all I look forward to teaching our Children, along with Daustin, the importance of the day. That Christmas is more than giving and receiving gifts. It is more than meals with family. Christmas is the day we celebrate the birth of our Lord and what that meant for each and everyone one of us.

Here are some pictures from the day, hope you enjoy!
